On Saturday, June 26, 2010, 153 volunteers braved the 85°F heat to help theSan Jose Municipal Rose Garden achieve the coveted status of "America's Best Rose Garden" in 2010.
Volunteers planted 51 rose bushes purchased from the $1,880 donated by Recology employees to the Friends of the San Jose Rose Garden. Many of the existing rose bushes were deadheaded of spent blooms, and weeded. Over 100 cubic yards of compost was spread throughout the 5.5 acre site.
