My work revolves around the reclamation and subversion of public space through interventions and performance. The results are documented using photographs, sculpture, and video that are integrated into mixed-media installations. In 1996 my studio practice moved into the street to have direct and immediate interaction with a public audience. I use on-site materials to develop performances and sculptures. Two viewing opportunities exist for my work, first as a witness to the event itself in public and second as a viewer watching the mediated documentation of the event. My process is physical and conceptual as I juxtapose dissimilar elements, objects, or materials to create an unexpected form that is often comedic.
